What is dry ice cleaning?
Dry ice cleaning is a powerful, non-abrasive method of removing dirt, grime, grease, and other contaminants using compressed air and dry ice pellets. Unlike traditional cleaning methods, dry ice sublimates (turns directly from solid to gas), leaving no moisture, residue, or abrasive media behind.
This makes it an ideal solution for delicate components and hard-to-reach areas — especially in high-value or classic vehicles.
What's the difference?
Dry Ice Cleaning Vs Dry Ice Blasting
While the terms are sometimes used interchangeably, there’s an important distinction between dry ice cleaning and dry ice blasting:
Dry Ice Cleaning (what we offer) is a controlled, precision method focused on safely detailing surfaces without damaging paint, plastics, or sensitive components. It’s perfect for engine bays, underbodies (with no coatings applied), suspension components, and more.
Dry Ice Blasting is a more aggressive, industrial-grade process often used for heavy-duty stripping or surface preparation. It can be too harsh for automotive finishes or detailed work. Perfect though to remove previously applied underbody coatings.
At SW Autoworx, we specialise exclusively in dry ice cleaning, ensuring your vehicle receives careful, thorough treatment without the risks associated with blasting. However, if blasting is what you need, we’re happy to organise this for you via a trusted third-party provider but completed in our workshop.

Underbody Coatings
As a IGL Master Detailer we have completed the relevant certifications to giving us access to some phenomenal protective coatings perfectly suited to protect areas of cars, motorbikes, agricultural and industrial equipment.
IGL Coatings are leaders in their field, having one numerous awards around the world for many of their coatings systems, most recently at SEMA 2023 for IGL Coatings Aegis.

When it comes to underbody protective coatings, there are many different options, Lanolin products, wax, dinitrol and more.
We do offer a Bilt Hamber Wax package, however what sets us aside is IGL Coatings Aegis. You see a lot of coatings being applied to the underside of vehicles which are black or brown, whilst sometimes this can look good, it can hide corrosion until its to late.
IGL Aegis has a dark but clear finish, leaving not only a protected vehicle but with the ability to check for corrosion should it appear from other areas. Below you will find some more in-depth information.
Protect your assets from the harmful effects of corrosion with IGL Coatings Ecoclear Aegis.
A unique anti-corrosion clear coating system formulated with graphene nano-tubes and a silicone hybrid resin-based 2-component (2K) paint system.
Specifically designed to withstand high corrosive environments (C5). With up to 6,000 hours of testing in a salt spray machine (approximately 15 years in a non-marine environment), Aegis provides hydrophobic, self-cleaning, lightweight, and durable protection with minimal signs of degradation.
As a unique anti-corrosion clear coating system, signs of corrosion is detected immediately, allowing early preventive measures. Saving time, costs, and accidents.
